MasterPlan has supported the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation through participation in the OneRide (Ride To Cure Diabetes) over the past 6 years with various staff members from across Australia riding with Team VeloUnitas organised by Daniel Rosato.
With the cessation of the One Ride in the Barossa Valley and JDRF becoming the exclusive charity partner for the Revolve24 event, MasterPlan is keen to continue to contribute and be involved in an event that supports the JDRF which aligns with our Corporate Social and Environmental Responsibility values of the organisation.
MasterPlan has had various staff members participate in the JDRF OneRide over the past 6years and we currently have seven staff members who are avid cyclists keen to take on the challenge. Its not so much about the format but the purpose. We have chosen to register two teams of four to encourage each team member to ride for 6 hours over the 24 hour period. This sets some excellent goals and enables two riders (one from each team) to support each other and ride together around the Bend Circuit. Cooperation and support are the key!
I’m sure however a bit of competitive edge might emerge, and we’ll see which team finishes with the most kilometres completed in the 24 hour period.
It has strengthened our resolve, as part of our Corporate Social Responsibility, to assist JDRF find a cure for Type 1 Diabetes.
In doing so, we hope to raise awareness through our participation at the event and with our, friends, families and business partners through their donations towards our fundraising efforts.
The reward of knowing that a Cure of Type 1 Diabetes had been identified, to release many in our community from the impacts of this disease and to know that the small contribution made assisted that success. Selfishly, the team and individuals gain a sense of pride having contributed, gain friendships and relationships that last and have a healthier disposition for the effort.
